How's Your Face?

in Face

We get up, go to work, come back home, do whatever we do that keeps up busy, go back to bed and do it all over again. This happens every day amongst millions of people. We go through life being busy and forget about keeping ourselves "alive". We fix ourselves up throughout the workweek, comeback home and put on our comfy's and veg out because we're "tired". Sound familiar? Next thing you know, you're 40 and the wrinkle are starting to show, parts of us don't look the same as they did 20 years ago and we wonder "what happened"?

A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to look at my face under a UV light. I have to admit, it scared the crap outta me! I had no idea thee was that much sun damage done to me throughout the years. My girlfriend, on the other hand, looked at herself in the UV light and had way less sun damage done to her. I think to myself, if I only had taken better care of myself when I was younger. I mean really, what would it have taken to wash my face at night or use sunscreen when I was young? It's something I really regret now with all my freckles that I have and even sun spots that show up on my face.

I'm reminded of being a kid and playing outside for long periods of time throughout the day. Lot's of sun and of course, lot's of fun! One thing I don't remember as a kid is using sunscreen or similar protectants growing up. Even working outside landscaping in high school, sunscreen didn't come to mind. I simply wasn't taught growing up to protect myself from the damaging sun rays. I didn't remember seeing or hearing about damaging effects in the long run nor do I remember hearing much about skin cancer.

What are you teaching your kids? Do they know without you telling them they need to protect themselves from the sun? Do they wash their face every night? We all know what the lack of taking care of our bodies does to us. Now's the time to make sure our kids know that washing their faces and putting on sunscreen plays an important role as to what our bodies will look like in 20 plus years.

Now that you're older, and have them wrinkles, wondering "what do I do now?", relax. Lucky for you technology has brought us some wonderful skin repair products by popular companies such as Estee Lauder, Payot and Chanel just to name a few. You can start by washing your face at night. You can use a night repair cream on your face to work on those wrinkles and other unsightly features your might have. Don't give up if you don't see results right away. This will take time as there's years of damage already done that needs to b repaired. If you're working outside on the weekends or suntanning make sure there's at least SPF 15 on your body.

With all of the designer skin care products out there it's difficult making a decision as to what brand should I choose, what SPF do I need and simply figuring out what woks the best with your skin type. Lot's of your decisions will be trial and error so make sure your do your research and even grab some samples at some of the department stores. There's plenty of deals to be found and sales happening every day on all these skin care products. Most of the deals can be found at your favorite online fragrance store. Just remember, be nice to your kids, tell them to wash their faces every day. They will thank you one day.
